Connect With Our Children

Connect With Our Children

Posted by Jaxon Call on

Valentine’s Day can be the perfect day to connect with our children. A chance to double down on your expression of love towards them and model the expression of that love. Often holiday’s weigh on parents as we strive to make them extra special. After the holiday season we find so much joy in a holiday that it is simply fun and ultimately about how much we love those we choose to celebrate with!

After the holiday season we find so much joy in a holiday that it is simply fun and ultimately about how much we love those we choose to celebrate with!

We wanted to share our very favorite ways to celebrate this day with kids.

ALL THE WAYS I LOVE YOU LETTER

We often go day to day surrounded by those we love very most! But do we tell them all things we find extra special about them? As Valentine's Day approaches take time to write a love letter to each of your children (and your partner!). GET MUSHY! This is a chance to make them blush, bath them in all the things you find special about each of your children. This expression of love for all the things your children are can strengthen your bonds with them and allow them space to be themselves knowing you accept them.

SECRET CUPID

This darling tradition is a beautiful way to increase family love and bonding! The idea of secret cupid is each member of the family gets the chance to “shop” from a family store for their secret cupid (having drawn their name from a hat!). The week leading up to Valentine's Day they sneak love letters and gifts to their secret cupid. On Valentine’s Day the whole family sits together to try and figure out who their Secret Cupid was!

The full idea and darling print outs for the activity was originated and can be found here!

HEART THROB DINNER

You can call your fancy, candlelit dinner anything that resonates with your family but sitting down to an extra special meal, all dressed up with candles lighting the table brings a new appreciation to everyday family life. Our favorite recipes for our Heart Throb dinner are below! Make sure to use your best, matching plates and red heart tied silverware! If you are feeling like adding special charm; print out a menu to place at each setting.
